Why use Cleancaf®?
Without proper cleaning, oily residue will build up in your coffee machine leading to bitter tasting coffee. Our fragrance free cleaning powder works to remove buildup and leaves your machine sparkly clean. Traditional cleaning agents like vinegar and soap are not designed to remove coffee oil buildup and can also leave behind residue long after final rinsing.
How often should I clean my home brewer?
The answer to this depends on how much you use it. However, for the best taste and performance, we recommend cleaning your home machine at least once a week.
Why can't I use dishwasher detergent on my coffee machine?
Dishwasher detergent is not ideal for use on cleaning coffee machines for several reasons: I use vinegar to clean my coffee machine. Why should I buy Cleancaf®?
1) Dishwasher detergent is not intended to rinse quickly and could leave a soapy residue inside your machine.
2) Dishwasher detergent is usually not flavor neutral. As a result, if there is any residue left behind, it is likely to add fragrance to the taste of your coffee.
3) Because they are not specifically tested for use on coffee and espresso equipment, some dishwasher detergents may contain ingredients which will react poorly with the interior surfaces of your machine and could cause damage.
Vinegar is a weak acid that will not clean away coffee oil. It will help in breaking down mineral deposits. However, a combination of Cleancaf® to clean and Dezcal™ to descale your machine will eliminate coffee oil residue and the chance of adding the smell of vinegar to your next pot of coffee.
What is the difference between Cleancaf® and Dezcal™?
Cleancaf® is first and foremost a cleaner designed to keep your machine fresh and your coffee tasting great. It also contains a component that works as a scale inhibitor. When used regularly on a new machine (or one which has not already developed a significant scale problem), it will work to prevent the accumulation of scale buildup on the internal parts of the machine.
Dezcal™ is specifically designed to address the need to remove hard water deposits. Dezcal™ is engineered to remove even the toughest scale buildup from machinery, but is not intended to clean away coffee oil residue as well as Cleancaf®.
Can I eat or drink this product?
Cleancaf® is an alkaline based cleaner. Much like any automatic dishwashing detergent, countertop cleaner, or other kitchen cleaner, this product are not intended to be consumed. As a result, the warnings work hard to be sure that there is no confusion about whether or not the product is a food. It is a chemical designed to perform a function. However, when used according to directions and rinsed properly there is no risk of consumption of the product.
